It's a vicious circle
2112: "One day the majority will wake up and realize that life does not offer any easy answers and that there are lots of complex relationships. Well, that's the central issue, isn't it? To a large extent we, as a nation, have never really grown up. We still think we can have it all, right now, and not pay for it.

Does sending jobs offshore reduce costs? Sure. Does this benefit consumers? Maybe - if you still have a job and can still be a consumer. What proponents of unlimited offshoring seem to miss is that before you can be a consumer you must first be an employee. People who are unemployed or underemployed aren't going to be consuming that much.

Unless something changes, the USA will slowly convert to a third-world economic model, with a tiny percentage of hyper-welathy, a large percentage of poor and a tinsmall, embattled middle class. That is NOT an arrangement that leads to social or economic stability.

And if you don't think that has in impact on homeland security, you haven't been paying attention to history, recent or otherwise.
