long-term vision, hope and prosperity requires wisdom
The meaning of the word "outsourcing" has been changed a bit over the last few years. Instead of shortening time to market, putting work in the hands of the most qualified and capable individuals, etc....it has been degraded into "it costs less"...and has stirred a certain "bandwagon" effect...not unlike "hey are you on the Internet"...but with a negative undercurrent.

The trick is strengthening and uniting the NATION so that we outsource for the right reasons, not purely to cut immediate costs so the company can survive another quarter.

Companies that lay off employees to outsource the work do not naturally WANT to do that. It increases their dependency and reduces their control. Sometimes outsourcing work makes sense to help the company focus more on their core competencies. Other times it's MUCH better for the company's long-term health to keep the work inhouse. When companies start outsourcing work that should stay inhouse just to cut costs...it may be necessary, but it is not a desirable climate for the company to operate in.

If the environment is adjusted via economic, education and trade policies at the Federal level...companies are less likely to be forced into an undesireable outsourcing situation.

Multinational corporations are a bit different. They go overseas to increase their profit...but that must be balanced against the customers of the nation they desire to sell to. Currently, we're rewarding multinational corporations by continuing to give them tax credits on profits they make overseas. I suspect the whole idea behind this was to allow them to be more competitive in overseas markets so they could enrich their U.S. base. Well, it isn't working that way anymore. Those same corporations have made the "financial decision" that they can make even more profit by displacing American jobs. Yes, they are bound by their shareholders to maximize profit. Yes, they would be under SEC investigation if they did not maximize their profit. However, the tax credit on profit attained overseas is being abused...so it has to be changed. We're simply taking back the "thank you" and exchanging it with a "no thank you."

People are so focused on cutting costs because we have the wrong economic policy with the wrong administration at the helm.

As far as George promising the cut the deficit in half in the next few years -- well first of all, I don't believe it -- second of all, if he does do it...well, if you thought America was in bad shape now...

Strengthening and uniting the country with vision and hope backed up with smart policies is the only way that I believe will reignite optimism and a future for this nation.

We are currently a nation that is sacrificing the many for the sake of the few. Until that condition reverses itself, this nation will continue to deteriorate at an exceedingly rapid pace.
