I believe most estimates say 2010
So a few short years really. Aren't they looking at minwin and creating a much scaled down and full dependency mapped OS that can look at software and tell if it will hae any dependency issues and what they are..and more. I've read somewhere it could be broken down into 2 pieces.

I think virtualization is high on the mind of MS as they work on the next version. The idea of microkernel apps and their ability to run on a virtual server w/o an OS has Microsoft's full attention
