No_Ax, until now I had you pegged as a seemingly level-headed...

Microsoft apologist, one that understood the difference between
really choosing and "accepting the inevitable". Consider this
for a moment. People don't really choose Windows because
they like it. I work at a computer shop and see people
all the time complaining about how their "computer" always
seems to have something wrong with it. It's invariably a
Windows machine.

I know, I'm not seeing the 90+% of people who aren't having
problems, right? Suppose I grant you that. I see no reason not
to. It's irrelevant to my point anyway. Those who are comming
in with problems, I've asked a few of them if they've tried
Linux. Invariably I get "what's Linux?", so I show them. Ubuntu
Feisty Fawn on a live CD. They always take to it like a fish to
water, however, they never seem to want it on their computers.

Any guesses why? They like what Ubuntu offers, so why do
they refuse? The answer always sound something like this. "I'm
just used to using Windows. It'd take too long to learn
something new." Getting the message? It's not about real
choice. Until I told them, they didn't even know they had one.
And once they knew, they still chose what they were
accustomed to over what they merely liked.

Despite the problems they're having with Windows, they "accept
the inevitable" fact that switching to linux is a change from
what they're accustomed to. People hate change when it doesn't
come in small enough increments. So they'd rather continue
dealing with their problems than to try something new.
