Ummm this is about large enterprise servers,

Are you confusing major corporate networks, which means the servers and the workstations/laptops, with a one or three computer home network? Large IT departments making a sea change and learning new code and platforms to support the different OS?

Momentum means a lot. That's why linux is not making large inroads into corporate environments.

When the Apple guy with his non-standard laptop suffers a BSOD, you need a culture of enterprise to fix the problem.

While Windows, Solaris, Cisco, and many other mainstream enterprise software vendors, some hardware too, envision a turnkey system that is critical to a business in the fortune 500 category, thy do not want a system that locks them into one vendor, and certainly do not want a cult niche product where there is not a pool of experienced people trained for support.

This is not a slam on your personal prefernce in hardware or software when you buy your PC, which Apple surely is as well, due to their mainstream sea change to become, well mainstream.
