2) "Everything runs slower on Vista vs. XP." Once again, interesting that I haven't seen that. Properly configured, Vista runs very fast. I haven't tried to install it on older hardware, but have had no complaints from my users running Vista on new systems. Even on relatively low end hardware, Vista is fast and responsive. I only see it drag when running on less than 1 GB RAM.

There are these nifty little software tools available that will actually benchmark your platforms with XP and Vista. This will allow you to see the actual differences other than some perceptions based on brand new gear that can better handle Vista. I've benchmarked and used all of our standard platforms with XP and Vista. This includes our older platforms that will be in use for several more years and brand new "Designed for Vista" platforms (...and we're not about to replace 20,000 systems because MS crapped out a new OS). Vista loses by a wide margin on all of our platforms that have at least 2GB of RAM. About the only advantages in Vista are in functions optimized for SSE2 and SSE3.

You also mentioned that UAC can be disabled. I actually can't believe you took the time to write that and press "Enter". You tout extra security in Vista and suggest that people disable it because...

The learning curve for Vista and Office 2007 is significant. It's not a simple matter to retrain 30,000 people. If we have to, we might as well train them to use something without a Microsoft logo.

Some folks will lap up whatever MS feeds them. Personally, I think Vista will go down as one of biggest mis-steps that MS ever made.
