That doesn't cut it anymore.
Businesses all have the choice of various Linux versions, whether it be from free downloads or using Redhat, Novell and others. OS X and xserver are touting they are business ready, and Apple being the #4 computer OEM in teh world, who says it "comes on every PC"? And with linux offered by at least two OEMs now.

I'm sorry if your intent was not the usual about Microsoft's sales only being because of OEM deals, but the thing is they are free to sell whatever they want. Other companies can be built to sell other OSes exclusively, if there was money to be made. And if there were, you know there would be Linux or other OS OEMs that rival Dell out there right now. VCs put their money where they will make the best return. Businesses do the same. This is not a situation where Microsoft holds ANYONE captive. If an OS was more popular or better and desirable to the buyer, it would be out there w/o a doubt.

Windows is well liked. Nobody is captive. Choices abound.
