Very odd thinking
Better yet, let's have open cars and open houses, which by your definition would mean they're free! Hell of lot better than just software! Let go for broke and have open medicine!

Really though, if there were no money to be made in software, who the hell would bother to write it? The Linux companies, they are for profit businesses are they? And they Linux support don't they? And that funds free Linux development! Last time Linux developers have mortgages too.

BTW, Microsoft has introduced OpenXML, yeah I know about the file format battle, but guess what, its an open, free, published standard that ANYONE can use!
