What makes him so special is
What makes him so special is that he is the author of two well-known books on Windows security and has a PhD in Information Systems Management from the University of Minnesota. You, on the other hand, seem clueless about basic English syntax and grammar. How many published books have you written and from which university and in what field is your PhD?

You also seem to lack simple logic skills. How is it possible that someone be a Linux "fanboy" and not a Linux user?

I use Windows. I also use Linux. Sometimes I use Linux to fix Windows when, for example, a spyware file needs to be deleted from outside the Windows API. (Puppy is PERFECT for this as it reads and writes to NTFS.)

It is silly to say he is "threatening" to use Linux. Who is being threatened? And it's not even the point of the article, which is about DRM and Microsoft's extremely restrictive DRM and their support of other companies' DRM.

Are you suggesting that DRM doesn't negatively impact anyone? I think anyone whose system was hijacked by crackers using Sony's rootkit to gain entry to their machines might disagree.

You are obviously not computer literate and not familiar with the newer "flavors" of Linux, some of which (like Ubuntu) use GUI's similar enough to Windows to make for a smooth, effortless transition. They are easy to install and support is available on numerous forums. Of course there are still Linux purists who eschew the GUI for seat-of-the-pants command line, but they are getting rarer and, increasingly Linux users are becoming mainstream.

The most important thing about Linux is that it is free and open source. And that's free as is free speech, not free as in free beer. Open source will always be more secure because the more eyes that look over the code the less likely a security risk will be missed. Windows is closed--I can't look for security holes and protect myself. It is also expensive. You don't think so because it gets buried in the cost of the PC you buy with Windows pre-installed, but you still pay for it.

Another benefit of Linux that is often overlooked is that it is far smaller than Windows. My XP Pro install is currently occupying 19GB of my laptop's hard drive. That's just the OS! 19GB!

If DRM has no effect, then why will content providers not just take it off? DRM punishes legitimate customers and has no effect what-so-ever on pirates.
