nice generalities

first you say there are a lot of benefits to upgrading osx. there are similar if not the same/better types for vista, sortof mentioned,but then, what's your point?.
second, you say there are less difficulties upgrading mac. this is a little simple minded in my opinion, like saying 'if i always buy genuine ford parts, my ford will always run great. as soon as i buy a comparable part, i have problems'. mac is all ac, ms must work w/ thousands of hardware/software manufacturers and if any one of the makes something alittle off kilter, then you have the rants you have here. i had a friend upgrade to ox9, had to upgrade hardware, went to upgrade to osx, had to buy a new computer. is that less problematic?
third, resource hog. vista uses what's available and compromisesto meet theneeds of the system. i watched as i tested from 1gb ram to 2gb to 2gb dual channel. vista adapted to what was installed.
last, buy a new computer. well, as i mentioned, this is what my macintard friend hadto do, so you're not too far off here. however, i was able to install vista, starting w/ beta1 onto the machine i was currently using for all other operating systems, including linux 7, and had no troubles w/ it, save the usual wait for hardware man.s to put out drivers specific to their product for vista. but the vista drivers did work fine. all the way through beta and rc, now to retail, i never had to upgrade, but i was shopping and eventually did upgrade many parts, something you can't easily do w/ your mac. i say 'easily' supposing you can just swap out a video card, install/swap ram, swap cpu, etc., although i am sure you can't. tha's why the 'im a mac' comercial made me laugh when poor old pc had to go get his insides looked over, what a crock. if i never wanted to upgrade my machine and wanted it to work exactly the same for 7 years (oh yeah, and wanted the cute girly colors), i might buy a mac too. have fun in your little world, but thanks for admitting you've heard good things about vista 64.
