Please tell me what is wrong
with that logic. XP had a slow start after w2kpro had just come out and ME....but now it's 85% of the market. Vista is starting out similarly. This story doesn't reflect the fact this time around the boxed sales are meaningless. With XP, there were a lot who upgraded their win2kpro or win98 machines so boxed sales. Vista is just not that way, but high end hardware has been selling very well since vista's release, mostly with vista. Some rollbacks but hard to say how many.

I don't think of it in terms of the Ozzman and Ballmer at the top, just like if i bought an Apple i'd have to pretend Steve Jobs was not involved, or Google or Adobe..same thing when I use their products. Microsoft has some great engineers and devs working in groups like Office and dev tools and I admire Their work. It's outstanding. Some of the best in the world and I like using it. Supports the economy and that's a good thing.
Microsoft software has provided a very good income for me and compared to that, what I've paid for their software is a paltry sum.
