I think you are getting confused by the number of PCs in your office vs the number of different programs running on them. At work we have your basic MS Windows and Office packages. After that almost all of it is in house, home grown. The majority of it being J2EE based running on Solaris (as all the custom silos of VB code are being centralised into Web and Swing based applications). All of our external facing applications are J2EE as well...
We also have Linux on the desktop with ICA clients to TSP backends. So we have quite a large mix.
