1. I said that Symbian is BASED on OS software model, not that it is a free software variant. The fact that is is proprietary has not bearing on its roots as you very well know there are OSS licenses that allow code to be proprietary.

2, As the article states, we are talking about Europe here where FLOSS flourishes moreso than here in the states. I would be willing to bet that the percentages are heavily tilted towards OSS.

3. As for the home grown/in-house code for custom applications, I am sure that a lot of it is built using OSS. Who would use Visual Studio for a MySQL Database application?

However, after all is said and done, I thank you for your courteous reply, a frank contrast to replies from other posters to posts I have made.
