Quite possibly...
...the most pointless feature of Vista and a waste of network bandwidth reporting it. Here's why:

1. High-definition is a function of resolution. That's regardless if we are talking video, images, etc. A standard 3mega pixel camera can produce photos that are larger than 1900 x 1080 (full HD).

2. While JPEG is known to have some quality issues due to compression, its not the only format used in digital cameras. Most pro-level cameras support the RAW format. Also, many prosumer level digital cameras also support the RAW format. Most prosumer and professional digital photo editing software (like Photoshop, Appeture, and iPhoto) support the RAW format natively.

3. This article does nothing to explain what this 'new' Microsoft format gives you over RAW. While the article does explain that the format is better than JPEG, that is nothing new. The JPEG spec is old, and even its replacement was first introduced 7 years ago!

Most people would argue that Microsoft Windows and related products are 'good enough'. I would argue the same thing for JPEG. Nobody is going to abandon defacto standards just because something new is out (that by-definition is what makes them defacto).
