When Vista ships...
... the Slovenian bug and any other minor issues will be part of a count. People will sometime read that Vista shipped with x,000 bugs.

I was surprised that Jim Allchin had to push for removal of errors in the first boot process. A first impression is significant, and to have a fix and not use it...

The time necessary to process and do ordinary testing and distribute the code means that Microsoft employees do not know whether a fix has been effective for days after it's been approved.
I'm thinking about what would happen if the fix has to be fixed and later code relies on the earlier version.

Impressive traffic control. And one person, otherwise unknown, controls what happens to Vista, the flagship product, for weeks.

A business like no other.
