It is simle really.
``I did not say that VISTA is the only place it is available or that ad hoc networks are new. My point was (and maybe I didn't make it clear) that a middle manager who didn't know a protocol from a proboscis could set up such a network without getting into network setup where he could mess things up.''

OS-X can set up ad-hoc lans in NO time and w/o any special knowledge of anything. To do the same on UNIX or Linux at the command line may be a little more involved, but again, ad-hoc nets CANNOT BE CLAIMED as a Vista Inoovation or something to go giggly about as you did (only showed you are not in touch with technical reality).

``I get the impression from the article that the ownership and sharing of files on the network was being handled by the program. I haven't tried it and don't claim to be an expert, but I would suspect that someone has already thought of the issue you raise.''

YOU mentioned that a group of people can immediately and easily start "collaborating" with this Vista "miracle feature". I question the accuracy of this argument by asking the simple question of HOW CAN YOU COLLABORATE with others unless you are able to SHARE OBJECTS (files, data, etc) and allow read and write access to them as is USUAL IN A COLLABORATIVE PROCESS. Pls obtain the answer think about it and if you have technical points you can make vs my questions pls do so. OW, go back to learn and THINK.

``BTW the meaning of sophmore is a person who is in the second year of college or high school and implies having a little knowledge but still has much to learn. What you describe is sophomoric. The definition is closer to a person who self assured and opinionated, but lacks the maturity to handle knowldege wisely.''

SOMPHMOREs are CALLED SO because the know much less than they think and because they BEHAVE sophomorically.

A person who UNDERSTANDS how little [s]he know WOULD NOT BE A SOPHOMORE but a WISE person (as per ancient Greek philosophers).

It is OK to try to save fase NOW but my REPLY was in regards to your OP in which you exposed yourself to several weak and un-substantiated arguments.

So become more sophos and less like other posters here who appear to have skipped their medication....
