You got part of it but didn't get it
I did not say that VISTA is the only place it is available or that ad hoc networks are new. My point was (and maybe I didn't make it clear) that a middle manager who didn't know a protocol from a proboscis could set up such a network without getting into network setup where he could mess things up.

I get the impression from the article that the ownership and sharing of files on the network was being handled by the program. I haven't tried it and don't claim to be an expert, but I would suspect that someone has already thought of the issue you raise.

As to the sophmore point, I am glad you understand the derivation of the word. I didn't pick it by accident. What you missed was the irony and humor implied. Is the jester a fool or wise? Do I know just enough to make a mess, do I see something some others don't, or do I just not get it at all?

BTW the meaning of sophmore is a person who is in the second year of college or high school and implies having a little knowledge but still has much to learn. What you describe is sophomoric. The definition is closer to a person who self assured and opinionated, but lacks the maturity to handle knowldege wisely.
