But what happens if you go out an buy an accessory that was NOT available
when your Linux desktop OS was released. We MUST have a common binary standard for drivers so that manufactureres can supply Linux drivers on a CD. We also need a graphical interface to prompt the user to put in the driver CD or enter the path to the driver. Heck, it would be nice if RedHat, Novel, Ubuntu, and others, would have web sites so we could automatically connect and download the correct driver, no need to get the disk out.
