Gotta be kidding
I consider myself a high powered exec too, being responsible for business process/IT integration in a 5-figure users organisation, and I completely disagree with you.

2 years ago this was a Windows shop. We have made a major redo of entire IT, and now ALL major and business-critical systems runs Unix. ALL DB's have been moved from MS SQL (or whatever) to Oracle, the 10 latest servers installed were Redhat Enterprise. Actually the only thing running Windows now is the Officepackage and Exchange/Outlook.
We are now investigating moving from MS Office to StarOffice/OpenOffice, and a plan for skipping Exchange/Outlook in favour of Domino/Notes is in the making.

Since the changeover from Windows we have cut servicecalls by 50 percent, although they did rise in the first period. Keeping the system updated and badware-free has been considerably easier. After the usual run-in period we measured user satisfaction, being able to dokument that it has improved from 45% being positive to now 75%. The remaining 25% is mostly made up of people like you - if it isn't Microsoft then it doesn't work.

Sleep well, and let the world overtake you !.
