Hour upon the stage
In the end, there will be just as many computers produced and just as many sold, because people's need (or desire) for computing is independent of anything that happens in Redmond. The OEMs, component suppliers, etc. will all have made the same amount of money, if perhaps at slightly differnent times.

Likewise, Microsoft won't really see any difference in its revenues, which after all are basically a tax on desktop computing -- they stay the same regardless of whether the model they ship has tailfins or not.

By the end of 2007, the bottom lines of all concerned will be exactly the same. All the sound and fury will, as usual, signify nothing.
