In the end, there will be just as many computers produced and just as many sold, because people's need (or desire) for computing is independent of anything that happens in Redmond. The OEMs, component suppliers, etc. will all have made the same amount of money, if perhaps at slightly differnent times.
Likewise, Microsoft won't really see any difference in its revenues, which after all are basically a tax on desktop computing -- they stay the same regardless of whether the model they ship has tailfins or not.
