Repeat after me - "Remote management!"
I think most of Vista's features are really targeted for two groups - the overworked IT dude who has to support *way* too many Windows boxes, and the clueless home user who doesn't know their firewall from Microsoft Works.

XP is fairly easy to manage in a large-scale enviroment, but there are still hang-ups - mostly with the use of least priviledge. Vista's features will make life a bit easier for people like me, who have to take care of over around 1000 Windows machines.

Like you, I don't care about the eye candy, and my XP machines are plenty secure. I'll most likely run XP at home for quite some time after Vista arrives, but at work where I'm directly in charge of several hundred Windows desktops and laptops, and indirectly in charge of several hundred more, any improvement in remote management capabilities, and improvements in useability for limited users is something I want.
