Well, I mean, other than by selling CPU's to Apple, but then again, that's just a side line.

But really, I agree with what you are saying; I see 3 GHz CPU's and 1Gb of RAM take longer to open docs and apps than the "slower" old PII machines do with their older OS's and apps. If the new OS's allowed a machine to run faster, the chip makers would take a huge hit for a while, I would think. Not that I would be against paying for a faster, usable, secure, stable OS instead of a faster CPU/MoBo/RAM combo upgrade.
HHHMMM! Maybe there is a conspiricy here? MS keeps writing bloatware so that Intel can keep selling us upgrades, and they share in the profits?
Or maybe not...
