- Darren - that's very interesting.

> They (Apple) do have the IPOD (thank god) and some new Imacs, both of which aren't anything spectacular. <
I haven't seen the new *Intel* iMac yet, but the reports are promising. As for the iPod, well 83% of the portable MP3 player market means something (I don't know what apart from users like them).
> Intel's and AMD's dual-core PCs and (upcoming Notebooks) pretty much outdo anything Apple has right now and probably will have unless of course Apple shares the same Intel chips at the same. <
FYI Intel and AMD make *chips*, Apple and Dell etc make *computers*. Apple have changed the chip supplier and hence the hardware design.
> So there really isn't a compelling reason to switch like in the past when Apple was a leader in Processor and Graphics performance. <
Doesn't that depend on why you might want to switch? Not all switchers are concerned about the ultimate in graphics performance or whatever, some could conceivably be after a more stable OS or other perceived benefit.
> ...there are ways to deal with the Viruses and malware and security issues that plague windows. Yeah there's actually a huge market built around Internet security and Anti-Viruses software. <
And when it comes to spending your cash (and time) where would you prefer to spend it? At the football match or patching and updating the anti-virus /anti-spyware / whatever?
> And it's certainly not enough to push people away from PCs as Apple's market share clearly demonstrates. <
Odd then that Apple's market share is increasing.
> This is stretch but if Apple scraps OSX and run Windows they actually might grab a bigger slice of the computer market, lol. <
Yeah, right.
Oh, that's where you came in
