Mac OS X has been my primary operating system since 10/12/2001.

Viruses - 0
Spyware - 0
OS reinstalls - 0
Lost files - 0

Been hearing for the last couple of years from a fine assortment of know-nothing clowns that Mac viruses and spyware are coming real soon now. They've been proved wrong. Meanwhile, several of my coworkers have switched to Macs in the last two years after they got sick of their PCs and now they're telling THEIR friends to switch. Probably why Mac sales were up 48% over the same quarter last year.
