Microsoft ... the SOURCE of all EVIL
Or at least that is what some of these posts would lead one to believe.

Actually, Microsoft is feeling the heat of competition from open source, and is responding with new vision and vigor, and that is a good thing for consumers everywhere. Sure, they commit their share of abuses, but what large corporation doesn't? Their size and wealth gives them power and influence and they aren't afraid to take advantage of it. Few large businesses are shining examples of ethical correctness. Its just a fact of life.

So now MS has finally discovered super computing. Bully for them. Sun and IBM certainly can use the competition and Linux will still retain its niches. In fact, MS will carve out niches that don't even exist yet and that will make life better for all of us.

So I am happy about all of this. Nothing could be better than OS competition. Windows v Linux v Unix. This is the precurser to better and less expensive software for all of us. It is not healthy for Windows to dominate the desktop, it is not healthy for Unix to dominate the enterprise, and it is not even healthy for Linux to dominate supercomputing. OOPs! Did I just commit heresy? Fierce competition is the key to a better tomorrow for the software industry, and without MS that can't happen.

Welcome to the party Microsoft!
