Mike Cox has one thing wrong.
His Microsoft rep wouldn't ordinarily be spending time with a CIO; there are more important people in most companies to impress.

Some companies came to Microsoft looking for its version of cluster computing. I wonder how many of those requests came directly from the IT section in companies with a mix of software sources.

Steve Ballmer commented that Microsoft would be the integrator of everything else [aside from the largest corporations, usually Unix shops].
Here's one more piece to be integrated.
