I wasn't saying it was obvious

never typed that. We may share likings of open source and a distro here and there, but I'm a happy dual booter with XP and Fedora, and don't find much use in the daily bashings of either system or the productivity that causes. With such phrases as "make them bleed" in reference to Microsoft in some of your earlier posts on Office and XP, I can't say we share the same views on them working well and competitively in the marketplace. (And yes I wanted Gates and Ballmer to step completely out of the way voluntarily so that new blood and less controversial leadership could steer Microsoft away from the course of industry gorilla and more into the sphere of the 'beloved' IBM father and shepard of technologies and standards, even splitting the company up to address markets more competitively with the banner of monopoly and its strictures, both govt regulated and self imposed - developing for multiple platforms).

And Gartner, with mouth open, often makes for a ample supply of hot air in times when heating costs are going up - good timing on their part and my opinion of such.
