I'm no Windows fanboy, but let's be realistic, here. The Linux kernel is getting updated so often because it's playing catchup on hardware support. I mean, how long has the Centrino chip been out for laptops and the kernel is only now getting support for it?

I've never liked monolithic kernels and this is one of the reasons why.
