I think it is grand that they get a taste of an OS
That won't break their bank. Keep in mind that most of these countries where this OS is sold have an annual salary of $2000 dollars. Who in their right mind wants to spend 10% of what they make annually on the base piece of software for a computer that they can't even really afford internet for yet.

100,000 copies is a good start. Think about how many copies that will prevent from being pirated.

I still think I will op out for Linux or something else, ala FreeBSD as it becomes more of a choice.

Even Macs are appealing these days.
