Yes, it is true that Windows is the one that is not compatible.
All of the various Unixes are very compatible in comparison. Almost all server programs can be ported with a simple re-compile, at most a few minor changes.

But, Microsoft marketing has done a great job of painting Unix as being fragmented when Microsoft is compatible with NOBODY.
