Microsoft has quite a good margin on most products
I kind of hope that other people's products eat away at the MS market so that MS drop their prices. (spoken like a true consumer - we hope everything drops in price happy.

MS won't go out of business anytime soon though, as they'd still be making money if they shipped Office for $10, and aside from profit, could spend just as much on R&D.

I wish it was easier/cheaper to get together a set of tools for windows. PDF writing would be a great integral feature. A Tree XML Editor might open up all sorts of possibilities. A good graphics package.
Maybe if you could get all this through an online account, and access the tools anywhere when you hooked to the web (download to your machine, but only for your username, unless global install).
They need to fix DRM/Media Player into a system like MP3Tunes.com, where it tracks all your purchases ever. The move a file license decrement isn't a good system.
