Both are smaller than diminished innovation
Both are freeing up large numbers of educated and skilled workers (and yes, automation is larger than outsourcing) but stifled innovation is depriving us of growth opportunities for the future. Remember when knowledge was going to displace physical resources as the source of all value? Now we realize knowledge only has value when it allows us to reduce the need for physical resources or allows us to accomplish more with the same inputs.
