Why must examples be made of anyone?
Any company is going to have their slackers. They either remove themselves or get fired. If the talented ones are really talented why use fear of losing a job be part of the personal management plan? I have worked under those conditions and left. Not because I was a slacker or got fired, I don't do well as most people don't, with that type of negative motivation. Fear is not a very good motivator. Besides that the example is quickly forgotten and and negative attitudes prevail and get stronger.

I was/am a stubborn ***** as you say and I worked a long time with no problems with a couple of companies. Not because they let me write the rules, but because they ran their companies in a manner that we worked hard and then went home. I was told the rules and what was expected from me outset and they let me know what I could expect from them. They upheld their end of the agreement and I held up mine. They COMMUNICATED with their employees.

I learned my lessons early on because I married a company that I worked for and divorced a good woman at the same time. I'll never do it again and I as a business owner now, have not forgotten those lessons.
