Be good to have specific numbers.
But for some reason no large corporation is funding research into how many people their exploitation of open source is allowing them to lay off. No company closed because free was good enough to replace them is hiring someone to do a study of why they died. And the unemployed are not yet pooling their resources to see what proportion of them were afflicted by cheaper replacement software instead of cheaper replacement people.

Sorry if that sounds sarcastic; not my intent.

But because research is not being done, it's difficult to do more than make assertions. So here are some:

Every person working on Unix who loses his job because of open source is afflicted.

That includes those working on a version of Unix and those working with Unix at non-software companies who are replaced by someone cheaper.
You do know that some versions of Unix are dying.
Even Sun could be considered in part a victim of Linux.

And open source losses include jobs lost to outsourcing or offshoring, when the job can be removed only because the software has been changed tom open source, and is now standardized enough to make such a move practicable.

And anyone replaced by a service contract, when the bid was cheap enough only because of open source software.

And anyone whose company suffered from decreased sales because of an open source competitor.

In short, in the absence of facts, I can only point out situations which do happen. In some-many-most-all of these open source is a primary reason for the harm done to peoples' lives.
