Day: do jobs; Night: kill jobs.
People should use their time off for the benefit of their families, maybe even do some reading and exploring outside the IT world. Can be fun.

Leave the programming on open source projects that can replace commercial software to those assigned (and paid) by management.

You may never know anyone who works on commercial software, but you can hurt them or you can restrain yourself. Restraint is better.

If you want to program as a hobby, do something that is useful but not enough to be saleable. Who knows, you might even end up having something you can sell. Then you'll be in commercial software, dreading an open source project that takes away your livelihood.

[No, I'm not threatened myself. But other people count.]
