That's the pessimistic view
I've just blogged about big oil's optimistic view:

Exxon's President on our energy outlook

and identified some of the reasons I have difficulty believing it and the assumptions upon which it's based.

When oil will peak is not an established scientific fact. However oil is a finite resource which will have to be replaced someday and the sooner we get working on renewable alternatives the better.
