Pure urban myth...

Another urban myth that needs to be killed. Look, do the math. A gallon of gasoline has a specific amount of energy (therms). Do the calculation on how many therms are required to move 3500 lbs (weight of a 70s Impala) distance of 50 miles at say 55 MPH. It just doesn't come up the way you think it may, especially when you look at mechnical loss in the drive train. The only possible way to get that mileage is to either increase the therm output per gallon (no can do) or reduce the weight. Coming up with a "magic" carberator is a nice idea, it just doesn't fit in the world of physics...
