Every other article on the tech job market, on more reputable news sites, points to a serious decline in jobs in this sector. The off-shoring is absolutely ridiculous. I have to deal with some these support people for a EDI VAN, who shall remain nameless. It took me a week and multiple phone calls to get them to fix a very simple issue, simply because there was a serious communication gap and they could not spell! So how much money is that company saving? Can't be much if a 5 minute fix takes 3 off-shore people a total of a week combined. I have watched many colleagues lose their contract positions in the past months too. I think that is where the biggest cuts are coming from. Many contractors placed in the large corporations are being significantly reduced in numbers. What will we do in our country when we rely on the "off-shore"(such a nice term) companies for Support and BPO as well as development? What happens when this job market declines to the point that even the brightest find themselves changing carreers? Sorry for my rant but for anyone to say the tech job market is showing signs of life is ridiculous. From my perspective, it's continually showing signs of a slow and painful death.
