Wouldn't work well for music or movies
What can a Major Label offer with a subscription? If you buy Band A's CD and buy the subscription do you get all the rest of Band A's CD for free? Subscription is just a pay now instead pay later scenario. It's good for budgeting in the corporate world. I don't see it being that valuable for consumer music though. A Major Label would love it though if they got you paying every year and any Artists you are subscribed to you get there music at no cost when it comes out as you've already paid. In this model a one hit wonder would be a continual money maker. Some how I just don't see this working for music or DVDs.

Now if you pay a small fee and it allows you to obtain upgrades to the media format. Say all you DVDs today need to be upgraded to HD-DVD. THose under subscription would be free to upgrade. They'd just mail them out to you. That might work, maybe depending on price.
