America's "Empire"
I lived in Europe for the past four years and experienced firsthand foreign opinion of America, and it is MY opinion that there IS a jealousy component to anti-Americanism. Why do so many Americans hate the Yankees? They don't like the local team getting beaten all the time by some New York team. The same thing used to be said of the Atlanta Braves. Many a baseball fan used to despise them.

Of course, America also does many stupid things in the world, but the level of anger goes FAR beyond what would seem sensible for America's mistakes.

I agree with your stance on outsourcing, by the way. America has spent far too long trapped in a Monroe-doctrine mindset. We NEED to think more about the interests of citizens in places like India and China if we hope to maintain our economic strength. Besides that, it is simple human decency to let a nation develop their economies by competing with us, INCLUDING from an IT labor standpoint.
