IT Firefighter you don't seem to get it...
We are now a global economy? How can Americans compete???
I have a pen pal in Russia. She has an apartment, food, transportation, and even a little extra money to have some fun with...guess how much she makes a month in US dollars in her part of Russia. $50...$50 a month.

Now, even in the cheapest part of America, rent on an apartment is about $500, food at least $200, transportation...even if you have a bus card is like $60, utilities are at least another $80. Hmm...what is that total IT Firefighter? To live in poverty...$840 a month. Wow...then because of Uncle Sam's cut...we need to make more like $1200 a month.

So...to have the same lifestyles in America as in Russia we need $1200 a month to their $50 (this is not Moscow we are talking about...this is a small village)

My point is...this is NOT a global economy. If it were, a loaf of bread here would cost the same as there if you translated the dollar.

We don't even have a chance to compete. So untill the cost of living in America goes from $1200 a month to $50 a month, we will never be able to compete.
