Now that the horses are gone
I'm sure our Congress will move decisively to close the barn door. Now that their big contributors have exported all the jobs they can get away with for a while. Unless dubya gets elected for the first time, then probably not even that.

First we export our manufacturing and become dependent on foreign countries, some of whom are hardly our biggest fans, for manufacturing capacity. What are we going to do when they decide to group up and stick it to us the way the Saudis did with oil back in '74? You can't build manufacturing capability overnight, especially when so much of it depends on specialized equipment.

Now we're doing the same with mindshare resources. Becoming dependent on crapass little countries for IT development and support. Not to mention giving them access to vast storehouses of financial, medical, and personal histories of millions of Americans. I'm sure those third world foreign governments would never think of sifting through all that lovely data for their own ends.

So instead of just being dependent on foreign oil, we're going to be dependent on other countries for a whole range of products and services. Brilliant planning!
