Patriot Act is a real problem
They are quite correct in not wanting their information in a venue where the Patriot Act is invoked for all sorts of "non-terror" situations, despite all assurances to the contrary.

When we in the United States are protesting the unintended uses of the PA, I can understand why Canadians aren't too keen on letting us handle their sensitive information.
