One industry

The tech industry is only 1 industry just as the autoworkers and steelworkers are. People seem to forget that others have jobs in other industries. While it sucks to lose your job due to offshoring it only produces a minor economic ripple. As prices drop the people with jobs still consume and consume more.

For example you can't offshore certain jobs. Jobs for example would be the trades. You can't have guy in India doing you plumbing over there. Oil and gas field work can't be done by someone in another country unless the oil and gas happen to be in thier country.

The real problem with offshoring on large basis is that the quality drops. Look at cars for example. Now that you get a car built in Mexico the quality of vehicle has dropped big time. You're lucky if your new car lasts 5 years these days if you buy cheap ones. So what's happening is you get throw away cars that contribute to waste and in the long run cost you more money. The consumer loses with the appearance of savings when in reality they are paying more than the generation before paid.

So I wonder if software coming out in the next 10 years will come out quick and fast but buggy as can be forcing a faster upgrade treadmill?
