Since your name is Mixalis, I will ask a question before proceeding:

I have worked in this industry for about 14 years. I've worked for very large fortune 500 companies and small startups. One thing that remains the same is the complete waste of time and money that most consultants are. They are basically salespeople. They sell themselves (and sometimes they try to sell products/services from other companies). They tend to do this quite well. By speaking the popular jargon of the day, dressing well and speaking well they really tend to pull the wool over managements eyes. Add to this the fact that many of them charge thousands of dollars a day and their waste becomes quite apparent.
This article helps to make my point. It asked a CIO panel. Exactly the folks that consultants fool. Ask a panel of senior technical engineers and I am willing to bet that the results will be very different.
