Just recycle old ideas
In the 70's and 80's there were mainframes and terminals.

Then in the 90's , there were Terminal services and/or citrix to fill the GUI side of "mainframe" computing. Also to accomodate reliance on MS software and applications that required fat clients.

These concepts create centralized IT assets while minimizing them at branch or remote locations.

There are options that companies both small and large already use to address the need of centralization.
