Where is the risk assessment?
The report should have come out somewhat later in the risk assessement cycle. The internet as a system has a lot of safegaurds. If this were not the case then it would not be running right now. Many security devices and procedures are in place and are performing a job. A review of the risks/threats to the internet should be performed and weighed against the safety measures. Shortfalls should be recorded and evaluated. Ar the risks acceptable or should something be done to reduce them? Then proposals based upon available resources can be developed to make the system safer. After this is done then the recommendations contained in the discussed report would be more convincing. Too often we sometimes over react to the danger without fully understanding what the danger really is.
