Get others to do your logistics
"Why am I doing logistics at all, why don't I go to somebody who has an economy of expertise in this space like a FedEx or UPS and have them do all of my logistics for me?"
A quote which causes painful memories. I worked for one of the companies that IBM went to for logistics. When they decided to sell the production rights to their lap-tops, the new company decided to do the same thing as IBM i.e. find someone to do the logistics. Unfortunately for the company I worked for it was not them. IBM had considered our company to be one of the best in the business but our new employer was not so inclined.
I understand the need for profit but to obtain profit and to totally disregard present employees is abhorrent.
By all means let the CEO and top level management maximise profits, but to say that they listen to the employees is laughable. They may speak to middle management but rarely if ever do they speak to the people who produce the profit, the guys and girls on the shop floor. There is little if any thought given to what effect farming out jobs is going to have on the lowest rung of the ladder.
I watched people who had worked on behalf of IBM for twenty years, and more, crumble as they were told" Sorry you are now unemployed".
God bless the profit motive.
