Apple's Ipod may not be the first, it may not be the best, but what it does have is the 3 "F's"
Form, Fit, Functionality.
The Form is quite eloquent in it's design, it Functions easily, and it Fits the average consumer's budget.
You can have 2 of the 3, but if it's hard to operate, looks ugly, or cost too much you lose sales. If you hit on all 3 as the IPod luckily did, you get yourself a sales hit (though the Apple community's following didn't hurt either).
