- Not really.

Due to the gravity of our planet, that effect would be minimal, and there is always more gasses being made. There are enormous ammounts of methane locked in the ocean from our earlier Planet days.
However, ona smaller planet, such an effect could be drastic. Such as Mars, which has about 1/3-1/4 of the gravity of Earth, and most of the lighter gasses have since leaked out into space.
In the future, when we are mining asteroids and have colonies on other planets, we won't need to goto another galaxy to find such gasses and water. Jupiter is like a Sun that never started a nuclear reaction. There is tons and tons and TONS of water on Jupiter (not in liquid form however), as well as a huge load of hydrogen, methane, etc.
On the moon there is a huge deposit of Titanium the size of a country. The galaxy is full of ice (water), hydrogen, and other carbon gasses.
It would be really cool if say in 10,000 years we had huge ships for finding a new system to live in. We would have a fleet of ships. One main one could be like the shape of a planet and could immitate it's actions. The powerplant for the ship could be at the center of it's core..perhaps a big nuclear fusion reactor.. something like the heated core in the center of our planet. The ship could spin as it moved forward. We could probably spend 1,000 years alone harvesting the resources in just our immediate solar system alone. That's not including the Ort cloud and the Kyperbelt which is past pluto. There is tons of rock and ice out there.
Something I would liek to know is... can water be synthesized? Is it possible to create water using it's basic elements in some way? - Posted by: neophyte1 Posted on: 04/03/06 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
